Robert Powell was raised on a farm in Norton, KS. He grew up watching a lot of wildlife on the farm and he had many wild pets inclulding a horned owl. After receiving an art scholarship from Colby Community College, he received his AA degree in 1978 and his BA from Fort Hays State University, majoring in Art Education with a minor in Graphic Design. Robert has entered many juried art shows in Colorado and Northwest KS, winning 1st in oil painting at a recent Russell show. Although he started out focusing on portraits, wildlife emerged as his primary subject.
